CHEM 455/655:  Instrumental Analysis

In Chapter 23 potentiometry is discussed.  This method is based on the measurement of cell potentials in the absence of currents.  It is used in titration and ion specific electrodes.  Reference and ion specific electrodes are introduced in this lecture.  Instrumentation for potentiometry is presented.  Direct potentiometric and titration methods are explained.  In Chapter 24 coulometry, the conversion of ions to new oxidation states, is discussed.  Coulometric methods are introduced.  Methods for data analysis are introduced.  Instrumentation and applications of coulometry are presented.
